The Karachi kings play the
champions in defense of the Quetta Gladiators in the second game of the second
season of the 2018 Pakistan Super League. This match will be played on February
23 in Dubai. The match will start at 4:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m.).
With two poor seasons, the
Kings of Karachi seem to have finally broken the whip and managed to transform
their team for this third season. In the first year of the PSL, the Kings were
the only side to be knocked out, while in the second season they scraped the
semifinal, but then lost the game easily to give a chance to make the final.
This season they have a new
captain in the form of Imad Wasim but it will be important that he not miss his
bowling mojo as a result. It's going to be an important transition. Shahid
Afridi remains a part of the squad despite not being a captain.
Also making the Kings training
will be the England captain, Eoin Morgan and Lendl Simmons, while the domestic
chat will be led by Babar Azam. Azam had a good form for him in his first part
of his career and a good PSL season will help him endlessly.
Mohammad Amir leads the pace
of the bowling attack and with Afridi and Wasim leading the pack of spinners,
is a strong bowling line for the Kings.
The big question is whether
the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Jason Roy and Sarfaraz Ahmed, who will lead the
Quetta Gladiators, will be tested by this set of Karachi players. Sarfaraz has,
at his disposal, Asad Shafiq, who is another test taker, but can adjust his
game, Umar Amin and Shane Watson, an umpire who is often kicked out but has
regained his revenge.
The Gladiators are a very
imagined side, having made the PSL Final twice but lost both times and they
would like to make it three in a row in an attempt to conquer their first
title. And to do that, it would be vital for them to start with a win.
